د. مرعي ضيف سيريا تايمز

السبت, 30 كانون الأول, 2017

Member of the Syrian Parliament Ahmad Mer'ei has asserted that the al-Nusra Front (Jabhat al-Nusra) terror organization, which exists in many Syrian areas, has direct relation with the Turkish intelligence and it receives support from the United States.

He told the Syriatimes e-newspaper that al-Nusra Front, which was designated as a terror organization by the United Nations, has spread in Idlib city – northwest of Syria- and it has been supported by Turkey and the U.S.

In December 2012 the U.S. said the al-Nusra Front, which is fighting on ground in Syria, is an "alias" for al-Qaea in Iraq(AQI), and designated it as a "foreign terrorist organization".

Before the U.S. designation, Syria had initially asked for al-Nusra to be designated a new terrorist group, but Britain and France countered with a proposal to instead list it as an alias of al Qaeda.

In 2013, the United Nations Security Council added al-Nusra Front, the al-Qaeda- linked organization in Syria, to the U.N. sanctions blacklist.

This terrorist organization is one of other terrorist organizations that produced each other in Syria, according to the MP, who made it clear that al-Nusra Front organization is composed of Arab, foreign and Syrian terrorists who commit murder and wreak havoc everywhere.

Dr. Mer'ei referred to what President Bashar al-Assad recently said about the ongoing war in Syria. “ISIS is part of terrorism but not all terrorism. There are still other terrorist organizations like al-Nusra Front and many others being supported by the west… The war against terrorism will end only through the elimination of the last terrorist in Syria.”

US military bases in Syria are illegitimate

As for the existence of the U.S. troops in Syria, the MP said that the Americans know well that their existence in Syria or in any other country should be approved by the country in which they set up their military bases.

“The US military bases set up in Syria are illegitimate and the Syrian government has not approved and won’t approve the existence of US troops on its territories,” the MP added, pointing out that there are talks between Washington and Moscow on this issue.

“Russia has worked on ending any pretext for the U.S. existence in Syria,” Dr. Mer'ei said, ruling out direct military confrontation between the Syrian army and the U.S. troops in the north of the country.

He underscored that the priority of Syria is to liberate all areas from terrorists.

“If the U.S troops do not withdraw from the Syrian territories, they will face a real resistance,” concluded the MP, who is also a member of the Syrian Social Nationalist Party’s politburo.
