The western and regional countries involved in the nearly 96-month long terror war on Syria only care about the success of their plots to serve their interests and they disregard UNSC resolutions, especially those related to counterterrorism, Dr. Ahmad Kuzbari, the Syrian member of parliament, told the Syriatimes e-newspaper on Sunday.

The MP affirmed that world’s focuson the Eastern Ghouta battle in Damascus is similar to what happened when the Syrian army started to liberate Homs, Aleppo and Deir Ezzour cities from foreign-backed terrorist organizations.

“I think that all countries involved in the terror war on Syria and supported it care about the success of their plots based on their own interests. What is happening today in Damascus is similar to what happened in Homs, Aleppo and Deir Ezzour cities which had been liberated from terrorism by the Syrian army,” Dr. Kuzbari said, stressing that these countries use new plots when the old ones are doomed to failure.

He made it clear that one of the new plots provides for transferring terrorists from Idlib to al-Tanaf, training them and arming them in order to transfer them later to the Eastern Ghouta of Damascus in an attempt to launch new attacks against the capital, which is being targeted daily by scores of mortars and rockets fired by foreign-backed terrorist organizations positioned in the Ghouta.

The lawmaker went on to say that the public statements made by some of the governments of the countries involved in the war on Syria show their support for terrorists disregarding UNSC resolutions.

“Here we raise the following questions: Why do not the governments of these countries care about the Turkish occupation forces’ acts in Afrin region? Why do not they care about what the US occupation forces have done in Raqqa and Deir Ezzour? Why do not they care about what the Israeli occupation forces are doing in Golan, Daraa and Sweida?”

Diplomatic war

For more than 7 years, Syria has faced different types of wars including the dirty terror war that aims to weaken the Syrian state and to destroy and partition it, the misleading media war that seeks to demonize Syrian government through circulating fake news, the economic war manifested in the unilateral sanctions imposed on the country to damage the Syrian society structure and the diplomatic war waged by terrorism supporters at the UN.

The indicator of Syria's success in the diplomatic war against terrorism supporters, according to the lawmaker, is the implementation of all UN resolutions related to counterterrorism and adherence to UN charter which says: “No state has the right to intervene directly or indirectly for any reason whatsoever in the internal or external affairs of any other state.”

“All UN resolutions stress the need to preserve unity, independence and safety of the Syrian Arab Republic...However, when the Syrian army makes advances in any area in Syria and defeat terrorist groups there, the governments of the countries that support terrorism resort to the United Nations Security Council in order to adopt a new resolution, which serves their plots -using humanitarian situation as a cover- and to embarrass the Syrian government’s allies, especially Russia, Dr. Kuzbari said.

Chemical attack scenario

The MP, who chairs the Constitutional and Legislative Affairs Committee of the Syrian People’s Assembly [Parliament], expects a new escalation when the Russian Federation is preoccupied with presidential elections due to start on March18, 2018.

“The escalation will be done through repeating the scenario of chemical attack… Terrorists will use chemical weapons and the Syrian government will be accused of this chemical attack by the governments of the countries that support terrorists. Moreover, the terrorists will be ordered not to abide by the ceasefire resolution and to go ahead with targeting Damascus in a provocative move to force the Syrian army to retaliate against the attacks,” Dr. Kuzbari clarified.

He concluded by saying: “I want to emphasize that the Syrian government and the Syrian Arab army are fulfilling their constitutional, legal, humanitarian and moral duties related to protecting civilians from terrorism in all areas in the country, and this will not stop till the restoration of peace and stability to all civilians and the return of normal life to all Syrian cities and towns.”

Yesterday, the UN Security Council unanimously adopted resolution No. 2401 that introduces a 30-day cessation of hostilities on Syrian territory excluding operations against ISIS, al-Nusra Front and all individuals and institutions affiliated to al-Qaeda.

Syria’s permanent representative to the United Nations Bashar al-Jaafari stressed that the Syrian government reserves the
